Nokia N79 and N85 confirmed, release dates next month

Posted by admin under news

With a promise of delivering at least two N series devices before year’s end, Nokia has announced the highly anticipated N79 and N85.  With an aim to drive down the cost of full smartphones, the N85 will serve as the flagship device set to replace the N81 with a boost in the camera from 2.0 to 5.0 megapixels.  The N79 will replace the N78 despite only being a few months old and much like the N85, the N79 will also have a 5.0 megapixel camera.

The N85 will continue the N-gage friendly tradition of the N81 and include 10 game demos along with one free game download.  GPS for mapping and geotagging photos will be a big part of the N85 as will the 28 hours of music playback off a single charge.  The most exciting change to the N85 is that it will feature a 2.6 inch AMOLED screen which should deliver some of the richest color we have seen to date.  The device will come bundled with a 8GB microSDHC card and accepts up to 32GB cards.  To complete the package are a 3g radio (HSDPA) and Wi-Fi b/g support which should handle all of your data needs, but unfortunately there has been no word on international support.  Hopefully we see a few different versions hitting other countries after the launch in Europe next month.

The N79 bring a daul-LED flash to its 5.0 megapixel camera along with a bit of customizable styling.  The back of the phone allows for swappable covers, very similar to the current Sidekick 2008.  With 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi and up to 24 hours of music playback, the N79 is the designed to bring the best in imaging and style together in one device.  The N79 will join the N85 with a UK release date in September, followed by launches throughout Europe.  There is no word on other regions launching either device at this time, but if history is set to repeat itself we should see versions across Asian the US as well.
